Slow Cooker Apple Butter
Description:
An ideal fruit butter for spreading on biscuits or pancakes.
Ingredients:
1/2 C granulated sugar
1/2 C light brown sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
5 lbs apples (about 12 medium), peeled, cored and sliced (about 12 C)
Instructions:
1. Combine granulated sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon in a 4-quart slow cooker; stir to mix well. Add apples; toss to coat.
2. Cook on low 8 to 10 hours. For chunky apple butter, break up apples with a wooden spoon. For a smoother version, mash with potato masher.
Makes 5 cups
