Egyptian Lentils and Rice


Ingredients:

1 1/2 T olive oil
1 C onion, chopped
1 C brown lentils, rinsed
1 tsp garlic salt
1 T cumin, ground
1 tsp turmeric, ground
3/4 C brown rice
6 C water
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Saute onion in olive oil in a skillet until soft. Add to the crockpot with the remaining ingredients, including the water, and cover. If cooking the dish all day, set heat to low for 6 to 8 hours; otherwise leave on high setting 3 to 4 hours. At the end, add salt and pepper to taste.
Serves 6
