Cake Flour Substitute
Description:
In case you don't have cake flour on hand, try this.
Ingredients:
1 3/4 C all-purpose flour
1/4 C cornstarch
Instructions:
1. To make two cups of cake-and-pastry flour (cake flour), combine 1 3/4 C all-purpose flour with 1/4 C cornstarch; proceed with your recipe.
2. The easiest way to do this substitution is to put 2 T of cornstarch in the bottom of a 1-cup measuring cup, then fill the cup as usual with all-purpose flour and level top.
3. If you only need 1/2 C of cake flour, put 1 T cornstarch in bottom of a 1/2 cup measuring cup, then fill and level as above.
