[Daniel] Meals Alone, Night #2 - Spaghetti with Fried Tofu

So while Moriah and the kids are visiting Mom, I'm making an effort to cook for myself. Last night was clearing out some leftovers, so that doesn't count.

Tonight's meal is Spaghetti with Fried Tofu. As one might imagine, I've learned a couple lessons learned here.

One, I am not even 1/8 as good at cooking as Moriah is. She makes everything look relatively easy and effortless, while I struggled through trying to manage having multiple things cooking at once.

Two, spaghetti sauce jars are designed to frustrate and infuriate. Slightly larger than 2 cups (so cooking the whole thing in a Pyrex won't work) but not so much larger that you feel the need to use a bigger container to cook with. I ended up pouring a bunch back into the jar and made a mess in the process.

Three, oil heats and cooks faster than water. I suspected this anyhow and purposely started the oil on the tofu after I started the water for the noodles but not late enough. The tofu was done just after I first got the noodles into the pot post-initial-boil.

Four, I managed to not cut myself with the knife. Daniel: 4, Knife: 106.

All said and done, it came together and it was tasty, though I suspect that had more to do with the ingredients and less to do with my skills. A picture for the curious below.
