[Moriah] Happy Birthday, Number Two!

You're one year old! You're growing up so fast and already doing so much. We're so proud of you and can't wait for what this year holds. It's been such a joy watching your first year go by. We love you so much and wish you a beautiful, happy first birthday!

[Daniel] A Walk

I went for a walk the other night, by myself for the first time in ages. There's a park down the street from where we're staying for the week. I made it to the picnic table as the sun was setting. I was struck by the beautiful colors (pinks/purples/oranges/blues) and settled in for a few minutes to think.

It was wonderful, to sit peaceful in the relative quiet of that park. As I sat, I watched the birds flying overhead and within a few minutes, a rabbit hopped far closer than I expected him to. It was easy to breathe (for once) and I could feel the stress from the day melt away. After 15 minutes, I picked myself up without disturbing the rabbit and quietly headed back.

Out in nature is one of the few places I'm truly comfortable. I used to do this sort of thing all the time in high school/college and lament that I haven't done it as much lately. Need to get better about that and to pass it along.
