[Daniel] Running Silent...

The silence on the line at this end of your Internet connection can only mean one of three things. One, I've been lazy, which really is not the case (well, no more than normal). Two, I've had nothing to say, which isn't true either. I've had many potential blog posts roll through my mind in the last couple weeks, none of which I acted on. Which, of course, leave only one remaining option: I've been busy. I have, honest!

And unfortunately, it's going to continue that way for the next two weeks, right up until June 23rd or just a twinge later. I've started churning hard on a project I've mentioned before. I'm micromanaging my tasks, at least one a night, on a do-able schedule, in an effort to get it done. More on that by month end.

Otherwise, baby stuff keeps rolling along. We had a good time at the last childbirth class we had and are eager for the next one next week. We found some stuff we'll need at a local consignment store and the stroller we really want at Babies 'R' Us. Moriah's been reading a ton and I've been keeping up a little, trying to prep for the birth and everything that follows. And Moriah is definitely showing quite a bit more now. We'll post pictures in a day or so.

[Moriah] Baby News

We have been very busy here at the Lindsley residence lately! And that includes preparing for Baby Lindsley to come along. We started a registry with Babies 'R Us recently. In fact, we've had a lot of fun looking through things in the store. One night, we went to Babies 'R Us and "test drove" several strollers through the aisles. It was quite humorous as we popped little wheelies with the strollers and checked out each one's turning radius, among more serious testing of each one's features and safety. We're set on a jogger stroller we found, called Expedition LX Jogger, because it has many great features including a swivel front wheel. We've heard from many people that if we decide on a jogger stroller, it's vital to have a swivel front wheel; otherwise you have to actually pick up the front wheel whenever you want to turn! What kind of logic is that? Anyway, we looked at lots of other things and have them on our list. Unfortunately, the majority of our items are only available in-store, which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If you're going to have an online registry, why the hell can you only buy certain things online? This makes it impossible for family and friends who don't live near a Babies 'R Us or Toys 'R Us to buy most items on the registry! We're quite disappointed, so we might do a Target registry as well. We'll see.

Aside from the expensive stores, like Babies 'R Us, we went out last weekend and checked out a baby consignment store nearby, called Lil' Ones. It was so worth it! We found a great infant/toddler bathtub and a portable crib, called a Pack 'N Play, both for half the price of what the regular stores carry them for! We were very satisfied and will definitely go back there. Now if only we could find the "Roxy SafeSeat Infant Car Seat" from our registry for half price...

We have also started childbirth preparation classes. We had our first session this past Monday, July 3rd. It was very interesting and fun. We had lots of questions answered about the labor and delivery process in the hospital, we talked about relaxation techniques for natural birth, we watched a video of several women going through natural birth and we even had a massage therapist come in and teach us some massage for relaxation! It was cool. In our next session on July 17th, we're going to learn all about the different pain-reducing medications available for those who don't want or can't do a natural birth, and we'll learn about cesarean sections. The nurse who is teaching our particular class is wonderful! She is one of the nurses from Renaissance Women's Group, where I go for all my visits. We've met her before and really like her. In fact, the whole group is wonderful. We really like how progressive and forward-thinking they are and how dedicated they are to their patients.

We are also signed up for two more classes: Baby Care Basics 101, and Breastfeeding. Those are taught in September by other nurses that work with RWG. We're excited to go to those classes as well, since we know nothing about changing diapers, bathing a baby, taking care of the umbilical cord or breastfeeding. We should learn a lot at those classes!

According to my doctor, I need to step it up in weight gain because I haven't gained enough to this point, despite eating nutritiously. In fact, I was slightly chastened at my last prenatal appointment because I've only put on a total of 4 pounds during my pregnancy so far, and I'm already almost 26 weeks along. So, I've been trying to eat as much as I can comfortably handle each day. I'm supposed to gain at least another 21-31 pounds by the time I go into labor. Back to snacking...

And, as usual, here's a recent picture of my growing belly:

[Daniel] Photoshop/GIMP Painting #1

Mountain
Mountain

The first of what will (hopefully) be more. I'm no painter/artist but it was fun to play with the GIMP for an hour. More art kinda of stuff found here.
